Nyx's Law

Nyx's Law is a scientific theory in the study of Humorology, first proposed by Dr. Nyx Meow, HuD. The Law states: "For any given joke or bit, the second person -- known as the responder -- has the most power over the landing."

This commonly manifests as the responder choosing either the role of straight man or the funny man. Based on this choice, the trajectory of the response to the joke by any extra participating parties and the viewing audience will follow suit. This is commonly referred to the "straight man or double down."
